Arup helps clients respond to climate change risks, make more sustainable use of resources, and amplify the social value of their organizations’ activities and practices. They lend aid as their clients prioritize and adopt approaches aligned to internationally recognized ESG standards. Arup also assists their clients as they invest sustainably in nature, buildings, and assets that will retain value long into the future. Furthermore, Arup increasingly helps clients adopt circular economy principles within their operating or productive models.

In January, Arup's OvaGreen team in their DTLA offices organized a month-long company-wide collection event for their staff. During the event, the staff donated their personal handheld devices, including phones, laptops, and tablets. Homeboy Recycling securely wiped the data and hard drives to protect personal information so that the devices could be tested and repurposed wherever possible. They also collected computers, CDs, routers, modems, cables, wires, batteries, lightbulbs, and other hard-to-recycle home appliances. At the end of the month, a lunch and learn event was held where the Homeboy team presented their 18-month program, social and environmental impact metrics, and actionable solutions and resources for the Arup OvaGreen team to make an even greater impact with hard-to-recycle waste streams.

Once the collection of materials was delivered back to the Homeboy Recycling facility, all materials were serialized, weighed by category, and certificates of recycling were sent to Arup. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Arup and all our partners for their collaboration and commitment to sustainability. Together, we're making a real difference in the world.
