Homeboy Industries works to change the way the world views, judges, and treats our most marginalized - the formerly incarcerated and gang-involved. By our daily work and commitment to the healing of the most demonized in a trusting, loving community, we demonstrate to the world a new way forward. Homeboy’s therapeutic community, re-entry services, and social enterprise model aim to reduce recidivism, facilitate family reunification, and remove barriers to employment.
Through our core 18-month program, people find the space to work on themselves while accessing comprehensive wrap-around services including case management, workforce readiness, substance abuse support, tattoo removal, and education.
Your partnership with Homeboy Electronics Recycling helps break cycles of poverty, giving many their first-ever job and paycheck. Your partnership helps break cycles of violence, as we offer trauma-informed classes on anger management, domestic violence, parenting, and art, as well as therapy, legal consultation, and other services. Your partnership helps break cycles of despair, providing hope to individuals who have never felt it before.
Your Impact
With your partnership this past year, we were able to continue to serve and support over 8,000 previously incarcerated and formerly gang-involved individuals looking to redirect their lives and become contributing members of their community. This type of transformative work requires many crucial wraparound services that are made possible by partners like you.
A BIG benefit of choosing Homeboy Electronics Recycling is our commitment to transparent reporting. On a request basis we provide our corporate customers impact summaries for the materials we process for them. Many of our corporate customers incorporate our reports to impact their ESG metrics.

Manny's Story:
Here at Homeboy Electronics Recycling, we believe in seeing and accepting people for their future potential, regardless of their past. By making our team feel valued, we build strong bonds that can last for countless years.
Manny came to Homeboy Industries and entered into the trainee program in 2011 after a period of time in prison and he appreciated the opportunity to work on himself. He continues to be grateful for the multitude of opportunities he has had through Homeboy's program, from staffing the farmers markets to working in the bakery, and serving as a mechanic for our fleet of vehicles.
His passion for freedom and independence led him to earn his Class A driver's license to be able to drive a 28’ box truck. For the last several years he has been the lead driver on the logistics team for Homeboy Electronics Recycling and says what he loves most about his job is the time he is afforded to be alone driving, meditating and reflecting on his life and path ahead.
Manny states that the most important lesson he has learned in the 12 years he has been with Homeboy Industries is to let go of the past, focus on today, and move into your future. His favorite quote is from the Victorian novelist George Eliot: “It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
All of us at Homeboy are deeply proud of who Manny is today, and excited to see what else is in store for him in the future.

Lulu Kornspan, Director of Administration, at Homeboy Electronics Recycling came up with the slogan this year for the 5k t-shirt: “We walk. We run. We move in kinship.” It’s how we move together. Traumatic recovery can’t happen in isolation. Healing happens here at Homeboy Industries, in a safe place, where people feel seen and cherished. ❤️
